Deer, represents the virgin mountains of Solsona as good hunting grounds for wild animals, source of livelihood of the townspeople

Brief History

Solsona is bounded on the east by the Cordillera Mountains, the Provinces of Kalinga and Apayao; on the southeast by Nueva Era; on the north by Piddig and carasi; and on the west by Dingras. It lies on the eastern portion of Ilocos Norte. It has land area of 144.93 square kilometers, with a population of 19,659 in 1995.

The floods of 1885 and 1904 brought untold disasters to the town. To speed up economic recovery, Solsona was emerged with Dingras. Thus, its government was administered by the latter. In 1990, it became an independent town.

Rice is the principal crop of the municipality. When well irrigated many farms harvest twice a year. Vegetables is the second biggest crop followed by corn and mongo. Solsona does not have any large-scale industry. However, its delicious queso made from cow’s milk is the local pride.
